Privacy policy

Recepti is a recipe-saving app made by Tamara Martinović and Jessyka Mathews ("we", "us"). This page explains what data the app and website collect, why, and how you can remove it. It applies to everyone, including visitors in the EU, the UK and the EEA.

What we collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address (via Supabase Auth) so you can sign in. You can also use the app without an account. You get an anonymous session with no personal information attached.
• Recipe content. The links, text, screenshots and videos you submit to import a recipe, and the recipe data that results (title, ingredients, steps, images and similar).
• Basic technical data. Standard request metadata (like IP address) is processed briefly by our hosting and AI providers to serve requests. We don't build profiles from it.

We don't use advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs, and we don't sell your data.

How recipe imports are processed

To turn a link, screenshot or video into a recipe, the content you submit is sent to these processors:

• Google Gemini reads and structures recipe content from text, images or video frames, and handles translation and unit conversion.
• Groq transcribes audio from video imports so it can be turned into a recipe.
• When you import from a public link (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or a recipe website), our server fetches the public page or media from that platform to extract the recipe.

These providers process the content only to complete your import. We don't use it to train our own models.

Cookies and local storage

Our website uses only essential local storage. No tracking or advertising cookies. We store, in your own browser only:

• your language choice, so the site opens in English or Croatian without asking again;
• whether you've dismissed the cookie notice below.

Neither value is sent to us or shared with anyone. You can clear them anytime by clearing your browser's site data. Cloudflare, the network that delivers this website, may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies for security, for example to tell a real visitor from a bot. These don't track you across other websites.

Where data is stored

Your account, saved recipes and any uploaded images or import files are stored with Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage). Our server runs on Fly.io, hosted in London, UK. Only your own account can access your data. Temporary import files are deleted automatically after processing.

Legal basis for processing (EU, UK and EEA users)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract, to provide the app, your account and your recipe imports; and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working correctly.

International data transfers

Our backend server runs in London, UK. Some processors we use, including Google Gemini, Groq and Supabase, may process data outside the UK and EU, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those processors provide, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data to UK and EU standards.

Data retention

We keep your account and recipes for as long as your account stays active. Temporary files used to import a recipe are deleted automatically once processing finishes. If you delete your account, we delete your data as described below.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and all its data (saved recipes, uploaded files and preferences) at any time:

• In the app: Settings → Delete account and all data.
• Without the app: use the account deletion page (sign in with your email and password).

Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. If you only used an anonymous session and never set a password, contact us and we'll delete it manually once we've verified you.

Your rights (EU, UK and EEA users)

If the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, delete your data, restrict or object to certain processing, and receive your data in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email us below or delete your account directly in the app. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Croatian Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka (AZOP) or the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children's privacy

Recepti is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
